A stage play by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter adapted from the original TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer.

About the show:

The Vicar of Dibley was created by Richard Curtis and written for its lead actress, Dawn French, It aired from 1994 to 2007. It is set in a fictional small Oxfordshire village called Dibley, which is assigned a female vicar following the 1992 changes in the Church of England that permitted the ordination of women.

In ratings terms, the programme is among the most successful in the digital era, with the various Christmas and New Year specials in 1999, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 all entering the top 10 programmes of the year. The Vicar of Dibley received multiple British Comedy Awards, two International Emmys, and was a multiple British Academy Television Awards nominee. In 2004, it came third in Britain’s Best Sitcom.

The script was written by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter adapted from the original TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer. It featured plot and scenes sourced primarily from the first two series of the show aired between 1994 and 1998. Series one consisted of 6 episodes and series two only 4 episodes. Some of the later episodes and specials were also referenced. It covered events from the arrival of the new vicar through to the wedding of Alice and Hugo.

  • Please note the position of the STAGE on the seating plan. Row A is the front, Row J is the rear of the Stalls (Ground Level). The seats marked 'G 7 & G 8' are  for wheel chair users and carers.
  • Row K, L & M are on the balcony. The balcony is accessed by stairs. The balcony is does not have easy access. 
  • CHILDREN/STUDENT PRICE applies to audiences who are aged 10+, students & up to 18.
  • BOOK FOR A PARTY OF 10+ for the same date and receive 10% discount. All 10+ seats must be booked at the same time - discount cannot be applied retrospectively. (If other discounts/offers are being applied, this discount might not be available).
  • RUNNING TIME approx. 2hrs & 35 mins (this includes an interval)
  • Refreshments will be available on the event. Cash and Card payments will be welcome. 
  • If the show is fully booked we will release restricted view tickets on the door. 
  • Customers are reminded that is NO PARKING around the Church. The nearest car park is in the town centre by the Swimming Pool. Please park responsibly and with consideration of the local residents.
